Arizona Public School Tax Credit

Support Meyer Montessori School Directly With a Tax Credit

Your Tax Dollars, Your Choice

Did you know that Arizona law allows you to redirect up to $400 of your state tax bill directly to Meyer Montessori School — at no extra cost to you? This isn't a deduction that reduces your taxable income; it's a dollar-for-dollar tax credit that goes directly to enriching the education of children at Meyer.

You don't need to be a parent at Meyer to take advantage of this. Grandparents, other family members, neighbors, and any Arizona resident who pays state income taxes can participate.

What the Credit Covers

The Arizona Public School Tax Credit allows individuals to claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making contributions or paying fees directly to a public school for support of eligible activities and programs. This includes extracurricular activities, arts programs, athletics, and character education — exactly the kinds of enrichment programs the Meyer Montessori PTO works to support.

The maximum allowable credit is $400 for married filing jointly filers, or $200 for single, married filing separately, and heads of household filers. The credit is claimed on Arizona Form 322.

The Deadline

The maximum credit allowed is $400 for married filing joint filers and $200 for single, heads of household and married filing separate filers, per year. Contributions made to a public school from January 1 through April 15 of a calendar year may be used as a tax credit on the prior year's tax return. This means you have until April 15 to make a contribution that counts toward the previous year's Arizona tax return — so there's no need to rush at the end of December.

Any unused tax credit will carry over for up to five years, so even if your state tax liability is less than $400 in a given year, your contribution won't go to waste.

How to Donate

There are two ways to make your tax credit contribution to Meyer Montessori:

Option 1: Online

You can donate online using a credit or debit card through the Tempe Elementary School District's donation portal. Visit the Tax Credit Donations page on the Meyer Montessori website at meyer.tempeschools.org/get-involved/tax-credit-donations and follow the link to donate online.

Option 2: By Check

Download the Tax Credit Donation Form from the Meyer Montessori website, then drop off the completed form and your check at the District Office during business hours (Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) or at the school. Make your check payable to Meyer Montessori or Tempe Elementary School District.

How to Claim the Credit on Your Tax Return

When filing your Arizona state income tax return, you will need to complete Form 322 (Credit for Contributions Made or Fees Paid to Public Schools). You will need to report Meyer Montessori's CTDS (County Code, Type Code, and District Code & Site Number) — a nine-digit number the Arizona Department of Education uses to identify public schools.

Meyer Montessori's CTDS number is: 070403118

Your donation receipt from the school will also include this number. If you use a tax preparer or tax software, simply provide them with your receipt and they will handle the rest.
