The Meyer Montessori Parent-Teacher Organization exists for one purpose: to make Meyer the best possible school for every child who walks through its doors. We are a volunteer-run organization made up of parents, caregivers, and teachers who believe that a great education takes a whole community — and that parents have a unique and irreplaceable role to play in making that happen.
Every dollar the PTO raises goes directly back into supporting our students and teachers. None of it goes to administrative overhead or outside organizations — it stays at Meyer, and it goes where it's needed most.
Teachers work hard to create rich, engaging learning environments, but school budgets don't always stretch far enough to cover everything they need. The PTO fills that gap. We purchase classroom supplies that fall outside what the school budget can fully cover, and we provide direct cash grants to teachers so they can buy the specific materials their students need — when they need them. Any teacher who has ever dipped into their own pocket to buy supplies for their classroom knows how much this matters.
The result is classrooms that are better resourced, teachers who feel supported, and students who have the tools they need to learn and thrive.
The PTO's role goes beyond fundraising. One of our most important functions is bringing people together — creating the kind of warm, connected school community where children feel at home and families feel like they belong.
When parents know each other, children benefit. Friendships form more easily, families look out for one another, and the school feels less like an institution and more like a neighborhood. The PTO organizes events throughout the year that give families natural opportunities to connect — not just at pickup and drop-off, but in meaningful, relaxed settings where real relationships can grow.
We also work to strengthen the connection between parents and teachers. The Montessori philosophy already places great emphasis on the parent-teacher partnership, and the PTO reinforces that by creating opportunities for families and staff to interact outside the structure of parent-teacher conferences. When parents and teachers know each other as people — not just as roles — communication improves, trust deepens, and children feel the difference.
Membership is automatically granted to all parents, guardians, and family members of Meyer Montessori students, plus all staff at Meyer Montessori.
The PTO is only as strong as its community, and there is a place for everyone. Whether you can volunteer at events, contribute ideas, help with fundraising, or simply show up and participate, your involvement matters. You don't need experience or a large time commitment — you just need to care about Meyer and the children who learn here.
